For a struggling industry, I’ll say this — at least Patch is hiring.

Plaguarism charges are not unique to Patch (see NYTimes Jayson Blair. Is the NYTimes evil?). Working long hours certainly deserves scrutiny, but wouldn’t anyone signing on to a dot.com startup expect to work crazy hours? I know I would. Does that mean that every dot.com overworking their (paid) employees is by definition evil?

If you ever have the chance to question Arianna Huffington, I hope you ask her too if her outfit is “evil” because they don’t pay journalists and hold up an unpaid model as (scarily) becoming the norm.
